What It’s Like to Work with Micky
If you are reading this blog, you’ve probably already scrolled through my website and gotten the gist of the interior design coaching services I offer. Hopefully you’re thinking “That all sounds so great!” But you’re also probably wondering what it’s really like to work with me. Well, that’s why I wrote this blog—to give you the down and dirty on everything you can expect with me as your new interior design mentor.
But first, I have to be completely honest—no two interior designers’ experiences will be the same. And I think that’s a good thing! Interior designers from all different levels of experiences, markets, and niches come to me for advice. So naturally, I wouldn't focus on the same things with a primarily residential interior designer in New York City that I would with a commercial or corporate interior designer in Scottsdale, Arizona. And even though I’ve put a lot of time and care into my comprehensive interior design education workbook, each call will depend entirely on the mentee’s unique business, strengths, and pain points. If you feel like a total marketing maven, we don’t have to talk about the ins and outs of Instagram business posts. We can focus on building your clientele base through word-of-mouth marketing or in-person networking instead!
What You’ll Learn: Building Your Dream Client Roster
Which brings me right to my next point: one of the biggest obstacles I see interior designers trying to make it own their own run into is lack of steady work and clients. That’s why I chose to focus so heavily on networking, marketing, and ultimately building your dream client list in this course. I know that you are beyond talented and hard-working enough to succeed in this business—once you have the clients and the opportunities to prove your value! Getting started is the hardest part, but once you get your foot in the beautiful, white French doors of interior design entrepreneurship, you’ll never miss your firm days again.
In this course, I will teach you my top tricks of the trade to make the right, strategic connections and build a network of referrals that will do your marketing for you. I will also teach you how to use social networking to your advantage and get your portfolio in front of people who you may not meet at networking events and through past clients. I’ll show you exactly how I grew my Instagram following to 30 thousand, and how I use my platform to not only highlight my work, but to add value to my followers and keep them coming back for more.
What You’ll Learn: Managing Your Dream Client Roster
Once I’ve helped you build a healthy client roster, I will show you to manage that roster, keeping both your clients happy and yourself sane. As a new entrepreneur, I know how hard it is to find the balance between keeping your clients satisfied and honoring your personal boundaries. The key lies in the project proposals. The project proposal is where you outline everything you will do, everything you won’t do, and how much you will charge for the things you didn’t know you would have to do at the beginning of the project. A smartly put-together project proposal will both set your client’s expectations and prevent them from disappointment, as well as anticipate scope creep and save you from the frustration and tears of a demanding, underpaying client.
What You’ll Learn: Putting Together Effective Design Books
The last section of the course will focus on putting together effective design books so you can wrap your projects up quickly and effectively. While you may not always be responsible for executing the design and physically putting the final space together, you will always be responsible for how the final product turns out. That means your design book has to speak for itself when it comes to the contractors and project managers who you pass the project along to. The devil is in the details here, and an incorrect design book can make a project truly hellish. In this section, I will walk you through everything your design book should include, and in what order. A stellar design book will save you time haggling with contractors, project managers, and worse of all, unhappy clients if a project does go wrong.
What You’ll Get
If I have to sum it up in just a few words, you will get honest, unfiltered advice on everything and anything you would want to know about starting and growing your own interior design business. Whether that be how to put together one of your first design books, or how to scale your business from six-figure to a seven-figure one. I’m here for whatever you want to talk about. Seriously! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the templates! I’ve included a set of project proposal and design book templates you can use for your own projects. How easy is that?!
I hope this answered all of the questions you may have had about what it’s really like to work with me and get MORE! out of your business. But in case you have any more, don’t hesitate to reach out at hello@micky-more.com.
